DESIGN Conference Closing event

on the series of Pathway to DESIGN the circular bio-based transition

We are glad to invite you to the upcoming DESIGN Conference Closing event.

SUSTRACK is organising the closing event of the series of workshops "Pathway to DESIGN the circular bio-based transition" on the 25 September (10-12 CEST, online). These workshops took place in July 2024 and involved more than 175 stakeholders from plastics, construction, textile, or chemical sectors to discuss the most relevant challenges, good practices and recommendations along policy, environmental, social and economic dimensions for the transition to a circular bio-based economy.

The closing event will present an overview of:

  • the main takeaways from the "Pathway to DESIGN the circular bio-based transition" series of workshops;
  • SUSTRACK methodologies and tools to monitor the transitionto circular bio-based economy;
  • the SUSTRACK dynamic scenario-based tool (GEM model), which carries out a systemic analysis of existing trends and proposed intervention, simulating transformative modelling scenarios to inform decision making towards sustainability for industries and policy development;
  • SUSTRACK contributions to EU policy in Bioeconomy

This conference is organised in the context of the SUSTRACK project, aimed at supporting policymakers in their efforts to develop sustainable pathways to replace fossil and carbon-intensive systems with sustainable circular and biobased systems. This event is the last appointment of the “Pathway to DESIGN the circular bio-based transition” series of workshops, involving experts from the four sectors identified by SUSTRACK as the most carbon intensive: textile, construction, plastics and chemicals. It is aimed at transforming the workshops’ outcomes into policy recommendations for industrial and political stakeholders to support their transition towards a circular bio-based economy.

TARGET PARTICIPANTS

Experts and stakeholders in the textile, construction, plastics and chemical sectors from research, industry, policy and civil society.

OBJECTIVES

● Present an overview of:

o SUSTRACK methodologies and tools to monitor the transition to circular bio-based economy;

o the SUSTRACK dynamic scenario-based tool (GEM model), which carries out a systemic analysis of existing trends and proposed intervention, simulating transformative modelling scenarios to inform decision making towards sustainability for industries and policy development;

o SUSTRACK contributions to EU policy in Bioeconomy.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

● Provide actionable knowledge in terms of inspirational good practices, challenges, barriers and recommendations in the textile, construction, plastics and chemical sectors;

● Collect stakeholders’ perspective to shape and fine-tune SUSTRACK methodologies and tools, better responding to industry and policy needs;
